We love seeing our alumni shine!
Two-time Reading FilmFEST alumni, Hillary and Elizabeth Ann Shakespeare—the talented sister duo behind indie gems Much Ado and Soundtrack to Sixteen—have officially made their Hollywood debut.
The sisters wrote the screenplay and directed the upcoming feature film The Upside of Unrequited, based on the New York Times best-selling novel by Becky Albertalli (Love, Simon). The film is produced by Los Angeles-based Luber Roklin Entertainment, marking a major milestone in the Shakespeare Sisters’ already impressive career.
Known for their witty, heartfelt storytelling and sharp visual style, Hillary and Elizabeth Ann bring their signature charm to this beloved coming-of-age story. Their success is a shining example of how indie roots and festival support can blossom into big-screen breakthroughs.
Keep an eye out for The Upside of Unrequited—coming in 2025!
We couldn’t be prouder to have these rising stars as part of the RFF family, and we can’t wait to see where their journey takes them next.
