ReadingFilmFEST alumni Erik Bloomquist’s horror film She Came from the Woods opens Friday, Feb 10th at R/C Reading Movies 11 & IMAX 30 N 2nd St, Reading, PA 19601. She Came from the Woods stars Cara Buono (Stranger Things) and William Sadler (The Shawshank Redemption).
The ReadingFilm Office, which oversees the ReadingFilmFEST, voiced excitement about Erik’s return to Reading. According to Cammie Harris, Executive Director, ReadingFilm Office, “Erik has been a part of the ReadingFilm community for close to five years and we are excited to welcome this riveting, must-see film.” Chris Woodward, ReadingFilmFEST ‘s Juror Manager states, “We very much anticipate viewing She Came from the Woods, as Erik’s storytelling craft continues to be masterful.”
Bloomquist has participated as a filmmaker, guest speaker and student mentor with the ReadingFilmFEST. His film Long Lost (2018) won him Best Narrative Feature, 2019’s Intermedium was awarded Best Actress in a Short (Emily Keefe), and 2020’s Ten Minutes to Midnight won him Best Narrative Feature.
Bloomquist is a two-time New England Emmy® Award winner (Outstanding Director and Outstanding Writer), eight-time nominee, and Top 200 Director on HBO’s Project Greenlight. His debut feature Long Lost played a limited theatrical run in early 2019 and is now available on VOD. Erik’s nationally syndicated television series, The Cobblestone Corridor (for which Erik served as creator, showrunner, writer, director, and lead actor) is the winner of three New England Emmy® Awards and recipient of nine nominations. Erik’s critically acclaimed short films have played internationally on television (Crypt TV, Shorts HD), at festivals, and on demand.
Theatrically, Erik has directed at prominent regional and educational institutions across the country including Ivoryton Playhouse, Ozark Actors Theatre, Priscilla Beach Theatre, Clark University, and Trinity College. A member of Actors’ Equity Association, his stage acting credits include the American premiere of Calendar Girls at the Ivoryton Playhouse and the world premiere of Rear Window at Hartford Stage (starring Kevin Bacon and directed by Darko Tresnjak).
Erik has served as adjunct faculty at Trinity College, Artist-in-Residence at Avon Old Farms School, and Visiting Artist at Miss Porter’s School and St. Andrew’s School in Boca Raton, FL (where he delivered his TEDx talk, “A Structured Improvisation”).
