We want to invite you to apply for a volunteer role for the 2025 RFF (October 9-12) and other events throughout the year. The Reading Film Office needs outgoing and enthusiastic volunteers every year for both the film festival and our year-round programs. Volunteering for RFF is about helping bring a selection of indie films and artists to share their stories here in Greater Reading. You are the unsung heroes who produce a fantastic festival every year and provide our region with year-round events and unforgettable experiences.

Things to Know about Volunteering

To express interest in volunteering year-round and during the film festival, fill out the form at the bottom of the page. Once completed, email info@readingfilm.org using the subject line: “New Volunteer Interest“.

Volunteer Policy and Procedures

The success of RFF is based on creating a positive, professional and fun atmosphere for our audience, filmmakers and guests. Our staff and volunteers are our greatest assets, therefore it is important to remember that as a volunteer you are often the first and last impression of the film festival and Reading Film Office. I understand that while volunteering I must abide by established guidelines and protocol. I understand I represent the Reading Film Office and its interests while on shift. I understand volunteers are un-paid. I understand that as a volunteer, I should be polite, courteous and respectful at all times to our patrons and fellow volunteers. I understand as a volunteer, the patron has the priority in seating. I understand I am required to be in uniform while volunteering and out of uniform when not volunteering. I understand that the festival is counting on me for the shifts that I am assigned. I will contact my volunteer team captain if an emergency cancellation arises. I am at least 18 years of age. The Reading Film Office, in accordance with applicable federal and state law, is an equal-opportunity employer that seeks an inclusive and representative staff and particularly welcomes applications from women and diverse ethnicities.

What volunteer positions are available during RFF?

Content Creator

Join RFF volunteer crew as a Content Creator and capture the energy of our exclusive events, interview guests, and create video for our social platforms! Content Creators must be comfortable shooting content with their own equipment (phone/camera) and providing all unedited footage to RFF staff. While we encourage our Content Creators to make edits for us to share on socials, it is not a requirement.

Venue Captains

Captains serve as the supervisors to the volunteers of each department and venue. They will be responsible for tracking the arrival and departure of each volunteer during the festival. They will be required to work a minimum of 1 to 2 approximately 8-hour shifts and are expected to accept additional responsibilities and time commitments to fulfill their roles. Captains play a critical role in maintaining a smoothly run festival.

Registration-Welcome Desk

Our Registration/Welcome Desk volunteers are the friendly first faces of the festival. They greet guests, check them in, distribute badges and tickets, answer questions, and guide attendees to venues and schedules. Volunteers help manage lines, support, on-site sales, flag special needs or ADA requests, and quickly escalate issues to our venue captains. With a warm welcome, clear information, and calm problem-solving, they set the tone for a smooth, memorable festival experience.

Concierge

A Concierge is our filmmakers’ and special guests’ best friend at RFF. We make sure out-of-town visitors feel comfortable getting around the city and always have a friendly point of contact for questions. With calm professionalism and local know-how, the concierge team turns questions into seamless solutions—so every guest feels welcomed, informed, and cared for

Street Team

Do you want to do your volunteering before the festival? Post marketing materials (Posters, Post Cards, Window Cards, etc.) around Metro Atlanta before the festival to gain access to RFF’25.

Theater Attendants/Ushers

As the Theater Attendant, you will be stationed at the theater door to rip the tickets for patrons entering the theater and click any VIP passes on the clicker in lieu of a ticket. If a patron leaves the theater, they must have their ticket stub in hand to return to the auditorium without waiting in line. At the queuing area outside the auditorium entrance, Theater Attendants maintain crowd control and noise levels.

Videographer & Photographers

Capture the energy of the ReadingFilmFEST as a volunteer videographer / photographer! You’ll work directly with RFF team to create videos and documentary style photography of our festival events, special guests, and screenings for our website, YouTube, and general promotional efforts. You must have your own equipment, shoot in 16:9 (horizontal) format, providing all unedited footage to RFF staff, and be comfortable with their video/photographs being used as promotional material for RFF
