Kris has been teaching in higher education for more than 15 years, and is currently an assistant professor of communication at Alvernia University. At Alvernia, she teaches a number of courses related to media, communication, and rhetoric, including “Gender, Sex, and Identity in the Media.” Her research foregrounds the voices of marginalized communities with a special emphasis on recovering historical women’s voices in Reading, Pennsylvania. In addition to her academic credentials, she has experience with canvassing, grant writing and administration, and conference planning, all of which she uses to support the work of the ReadingFilm Board of Directors. Kris is a fierce advocate for the arts, education, and cultural and linguistic diversity, and looks forward to the opportunity to further the ReadingFilm Office’s mission to lift the voices of underrepresented groups and celebrate Reading’s diverse communities.”
