Student Assemblies: BIGG

ReadingFilmFEST, in partnership with Reading High School, and Alvernia University College Towne is proud to host a special student assembly featuring two trailblazing inventors, James Howard and David Vonner as guest speakers.

James Howard is the Producer of the film Black Inventors Got Game (BIGG), and the founder and executive director of the Black Inventor of Hall of Fame. James Howard has 19 patents and has designed more than 400 products in his 40-year career, including toys for Crayola and Johnson & Johnson. In addition, James Howard is a college professor, design historian, entrepreneur, industrial designer, inventor, and restauranteur. Howard brings over 25 years of experience as a design professor and has authored a course on Design Thinking and Design History that explores the impact of design on society.

David Vonner has designed some of our favorite toys, action figures, and collectibles. From the rock band KISS to your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, the Superstars of the WWE, and the highly popular collector action figure line Marvel Legends. The Legends figure War Machine bears Vonner’s likeness, as does the 3 3/4″ War Machine in the Iron Man 2 Comic Book series. In addition, David has designed and developed products for notable companies such as Spencer Gifts, Marvel, Spinmaster, Hasbro, and Mattel, generating hundreds of millions of dollars in sales revenue.
